Kristine Elizabeth Meza was a beautiful young lady born on July 19, 1985. She sadly had her life taken from her on February 11, 2011 by domestic violence.
As remembered by many, Kristine grew up in the city of Laredo, Texas. She was a guiding role model to three gorgeous little sisters; Jessica, Alexandria, and Brianna. She was a loving daughter who sought nothing but the best for her family. As the eldest in the family, Kristine always felt an innate pressure to seek out for her family and pursued independent roles. Her optimistic and self-determined ways never deprived her from surpassing her mistakes and obtaining her goals. She was understanding, patient, and sensitive to one’s needs.
Kristine’s childhood and teenage experiences were filled with amazing memories sharing happiness, love, and a lot of laughter. She’s most remembered for being a considerate daughter, loving sister, and an unconditional friend. After graduating high-school and attending some community college courses, Kristine discovered her inner passion in wanting to help others and decided to become a nurse. She was so eager to start her career and become self-sufficient. No physical, emotional, or financial barrier ever stopped her from continuing her education. She was an exceptional young woman.
In her last two years of life, Kristine endured a stringent relationship with her former ex-boyfriend. She went from being happy, to feeling insecure, depressed, and later fearing him. In no time, Kristine had unwillingly found herself in a domestic violent relationship. She took all necessary steps to legally protect her but on February 11, 2011 her life was taken as she was ambushed in her driveway by her estranged ex-boyfriend.
Kristine’s passing left a huge hole in our hearts to those who knew her well. Her family and friends continue to mourn and suffer for their loss. As a result of her passing, a group of her family and friends united to embark on a mission in hopes of making a difference for those who feel locked in silence. The Kristine Meza Foundation was born September 2011.
